Oh, it surprised me a little bit. In a Wikipedia article I've read that the Neoplan Centroliner in Hong Kong are not particularly liked by the passengers, because they are more often remain lying with failures alleged. In addition, the vehicles are probably perceived as too loud.
In Germany there are many people who Neoplan considered substandard. So there were many jokes, for example such rhyming lines: "Fährst du fort mit Neoplan, kommst' zurück mit Bundesbahn.".
Translated into English means the following: "If you go with Neoplan, you'll come back by train.", but in my view that's all nonsense.

Thank you!

Delivery of the new VDL Citea DLF is expected for June, the bus will be 11.4 meters long and equipped with two staircases. In March, the BVG published a press release, it can be downloaded in German language here. It states that the bus, as well as his one-story counterparts of the VDL Citea LLE type, is manufactured in lightweight construction and during the test phase is to determine how much fuel can be saved due to the lower weight and to what amount the emissions in this can be reduced manner.
In addition, is to be tested as well as in the Scania bus, the passenger flow. I wonder, however, what is there to be detected. Since 1979, all new double-deckers were procured with two staircases, which have to be significantly positive impact on the flow of passengers.

On the VDL homepage you can find a press release about the Citea DLF too, this is in the English language written. In it there is to see a rendering image of the rear side of the bus. This rendering was adapted by the buses news page "Modellbus-Info" (to find the article, scroll down) to a complete picture, it's to see here.

About the Scania Citywide LFDD I have already reported here in the topic in February in detail, you can find the article with many photos of the bus here. :wink:

Can I ask how come none of the Sightseeing buses use their route display? I mean both SD81 and D92s - sure enough they can type "A", "B" on those displays and help passengers to recognise which route are the buses on.

There are various reasons. The BCT is a bus company, that was founded by a Busfan who still is the owner at present and also one of the founding members of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Traditionsbus (ATB). Compared with other bus companies in Berlin, the BCT more likely one of the smaller bus companies, so the maintenance personnel can only occasionally deal with the displays.
Thus, for those displays hardly any spare parts available, besides, I do not know the extent to which ever leave the old target displays nowadays still programmed. If the buses of the BCT in use as rail replacement bus service, for school buses or shuttle service, the displays are mostly used, because these target specifications were already programmed to times when the buses were still in the service of the BVG.
On the roll band-target displays is in the field for the route number except the digits 0-9 and as single letters the "E" and the "N" available, the retrofitting with the letter "A", "B" and "C" would be relatively cumbersome possible. But the BCT uses at least the good legible plug shields in the windows. The sightseeing buses of other companies are often marked much worse or not at all.

...the empty weight of the bus is 12.5 tonnes, the permissible gross vehicle weight is 19.2 tonnes and the Cummins ISB6.7 engine delivers 280 hp. The bus will be stationed first at the Spandau depot, after the performance it returned back to DAF branch in Großbeeren for final comprehensive work. The regular service is expected to begin in October on the route X34, where the Scania Citywide LFDD is already tested since spring...

In the moment it's not possible to say, when the bus is going to the planned six week passenger testrun, because due to the height a dispensation is needed for it. The bus is expected to be used on the route X34, on this route the Scania Citywide LFDD and the VDL Citea DLF-114 will be in service too.

on the afternoon of Saturday, 31st of October, I visited the annual Running Day of Traditionsbus Berlin for nearly three hours. At this day, the vintage buses were in service on route 100 (and 69, this was the route number in the western part of Berlin before introducing of route 100 in the year 1990). Unfortunately, the route 100 did not reach the Alexander Place around 15 o'clock due to some traffic restrictions, only one bus had reached the place at this time...

At Reichstag (Federal Parliament of Germany), the buses couldn't use the former terminus, located right next to the building of Reichstag, so it rested at a bus stop before the Paul Löbe Building (this building houses the offices of Members of Parliament), which was decommissioned recently...

Hello Berlin Skyliner, interesting to see that Alexander Dennis is entering the left hand drive market in Europe, the question is will they offer Enviro 500 buses similar to the ones used in Hong Kong - Singapore and Malaysian market which are following european specifications, or use the North American version.

The dashboard looks quite cheap compared to other European buse and as many have said in this forum, the new enviro 500/ enviro 400 design is just plain awful....

Last October, when the Enviro was presentet in Berlin, the european manager of ADL said, it's important to enter the european market, if ADL still wants to expand their business.

This year, Postal Car Switzerland will get their first Enviro 500 Superlo. The buses will have a height of 3,95 meter, two staricases and three doors. If Berlin wants to order the E500 in a larger number of pieces, it will be possible to adapt the bus for the Berlin specifications (height of 4,06 meter, two staircases, two or three doors). I think, the bumpers and the lights would the same like the Asian types.

Yes, the dashboard looks something simply designed. Especially surprised me the fact that the steering column is not covered, something like this is long gone in our buses.

By the way: I like the first two forms of the E500 very much, but I also like the facelifted E500.

Unfortunately, I am very busy at the moment, so my next report of the Berlin buses will follow in the next few days. Until then, another photo from Enviro 500 in Berlin...

Hello Berlin Skyliner, its true that ADL is pretty much non existent in the European Market outside of the UK. Even in Paris, where I live, the only double deckers I see on streets are sightseeing buses manufactured by Volvo and a few Neoplan Centroliner similar to those used in Hong Kong.

Then its true that British single decker buses are not really up to par compared with the Mercedes Citaros, the Man Lion CIty and even the Irisbus/Iveco urbanway.....

But being able to enter a market like switzerland and germany would be a huge boost for ADL.

BTW, any news from BVG concerning the trial of the Enviro 500MMC? the bus is still in its trial period right?
