P(x) = (x – 1)(x + 2) Q(x) + (ax + b)

當 P(x) 除以 x – 1 時，
P(1)=-4
a+b=-4.....(1)

當 P(x) 除以 x + 2 時，
P(-2)=-28
-2a+b=-28.....(2)

(1) – (2)：
3a=24
a=8

把 a = 8 代入 (1)，可得：
8+b=-4
b=-12

當 P(x) 除以 (x – 1)(x + 2) 時，所得的餘式是 8x – 12。
