970短線車就一定加硬,事關23A將取消,如無意外有車過970,加埋之前新巴19取消都有車分比970
之但係鐵路通車後970會減車

MB720 :Regarding the transportation method, actually more students are willing to take minivans or buses to Sheung Wan and Central first before riding MTR to the Kowloon side, as they got the common sense that it could be hard to get a seat during rush hour. Of course if you can't be bothered with changing transportation method, taxi suits you.

KR8155‧3349 :In reality, most of the student of HKU would travel to Kowloon Peninsula by taking NWFB route 970 / 970X during rush hour, it is more directly.
Despite the staggering demand of HKU students, it does not indicate that we should allocate more bus from other routes of South District in order to strengthen the service of NWFB route 970 / 970X.
It is really unfair to do so

miklcct :The only factor which should affect the frequency of bus routes is the demand. If the demand is extremely high, 1-minute headway is even possible, if the demand is very low, the result may be only one departure per day. It is very clear that the demand for crossing the harbour is much greater than the demand to Central at afternoon peak hour, therefore, the number of buses to Central should be reduced, and the number of buses on cross-harbour routes should be increased. In reality, no buses from Pokfulam to Central skip stops due to their fullness, however, many buses skip stops before crossing the harbour because they are completely packed and cannot accommodate more passengers.
I predict that even after the opening of the West Island Line, the demand of routes 970/970X will still be very high because it is still the most direct way to Kowloon and the New Territories, and even for changing to the East Rail Line at Mong Kok. It will require multiple transfers if I take the MTR directly from HKU which takes much time, but only a 10-minute walk if I take the bus and transfer at Mong Kok. However, the passengers currently transferring to West Rail Line will disappear.
It is unfair for us to change to a slower method just because the cross-harbour service is insufficient. (If we take 970X and then 960, we can arrive Tuen Mun from HKU in half an hour!) The southbound buses to Pokfulam from Sai Ying Pun are never fully-packed to the extent of the 970 buses, therefore, we should reduce the number of those buses to make some to be available for clearing accumulated cross-harbour passengers from Sai Ying Pun. The number of southbound Pokfulam buses should be reduced until every bus is 100% packed, which is the current situation of peak-hour 904, 905, 970, 970X, 971 and 973 buses.
Buses going home are a necessity, but buses for leaving school/work are a necessity too.
