來自Chester嘅佳牌阿拉伯五型,車身係Massey(67年被Northern Counties收購)出品。全部車除咗個伯明翰鬼面罩之外,都冇邊樣嘢可以令人聯想到中巴紅番頭,波箱係手動,連錶板都唔同樣:

原屬West Midlands PTE嘅「中巴色」都城MK2,係第一批出廠嘅兩軸MK2之一:

車主喺下層側窗度貼咗張都城MK2嘅spec sheet(原尺寸:https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4196/35203645942_989633b47b_o.jpg),極具參考價值,終於知道都城個80度angle drive嘅比例係大約0.91:1!不過0.91:1肯定唔夠exact,因為呢個分數冇得約簡,咁細個angle drive嘅輸入齒輪唔可能有成百隻齒。而以二波由1.36:1變成1.24:1嚟計,個angle drive嘅比例應該喺0.9081:1至0.9154:1之間。再睇返份都城spare parts list入面angle drive張圖(第402頁),個齒輪得20隻齒左右,所以我認為最可能嘅齒比係22:20,得出0.9091:1呢個轉速比:

第一次用呢個角度望落呢個一向「只聞其聲不見其影」嘅80度angle drive,左邊嘅機油冷卻器風扇殘骸說明佢係來自MK2,或者係81年中之後出廠嘅MK1:

今次嘅目標(可以話係全日唯一目標,出發之前純粹係博佢會出車,好彩真係有,重要行咗三轉),就係舊年開得一班而搭唔到嘅Foden NC(舊年係開另一部),今次終於搭到!

Foden NC呢款車,顧名思義係由Foden同Northern Counties合作研發。Foden嘅貨車相當出名,但喺巴士市場就冇乜存在感,1980年被Paccar收購後更加係完全專注於貨車市場。喺70年代中,利蘭宣佈將以integral結構嘅泰坦B15取代晒旗下嘅Atlantean、珍寶同VRT三款後置引擎雙層巴士,搞到利蘭集團以外嘅各大車身廠都擔心訂單數量會急跌(因為利蘭再早幾年已經用National代替咗幾款單層巴士)。於是,為咗打破利蘭嘅壟斷,佢哋就同啲想打入市場或者重出江湖嘅車廠合作 - Alexander x Ailsa、East Lancs x Dennis、MCW x Scania,重有今次嘅主角Northern Counties x Foden。Ailsa B55同Dominator都算成功,Metrobus更加係非常好賣,但Foden NC賣得嗰七部,而且其中一部係由East Lancs造車身(Foden EL?),另加一部唔完整嘅development vehicle,而家只得呢部ROC300R同NWVRT收藏嘅另一部TUB250R存世,非常稀有。
呢部ROC300R係七部原型車入面交畀West Midlands PTE試用嗰部,啱啱修復完成並翻油,非常靚仔

個鷂形水牌係Foden嘅傳統,而呢隻四盞頭燈嘅佈局就係Northern Counties喺70-80年代嘅標準設計,就算係Olympian同Dominator呢啲前置水箱嘅車,都只係喺車咀中間加一個圓角矩形嘅水箱網,加完之後會好唔協調:

行星齒輪尾軸,而條軸本身又係U軸,搞咗個triple reduction出嚟,我覺得係一個多餘嘅設計:

當日部車總共開咗三轉,除咗趕唔切搭第一轉之外,12:30同14:30呢兩轉我都有搭。前一轉太多人聲,所以呢段片係後一轉時拍。
整體嚟講,始終都係脫離唔到第一代後置引擎巴士嘅感覺。部車嘅尾軸聲同藍色內籠都令我諗起舊年喺Wythall搭過嘅WMPTE Ailsa B55 MK1,無獨有偶,兩者嘅perimeter frame式底盤骨架亦幾似樣。但係Ailsa嘅懸掛好太多,而Foden NC就停留喺珍寶年代嗰隻硬而彈嘅感覺。至於把聲本身就多少有啲似龍/鷹,明明唔係用Voith都有一把高音,可能係個transfer box發出嘅聲?呢隻MT640波箱唔同Dart用嘅AT545,三、四波係應該有lock-up,但可能係個波箱壞壞哋,搭落只覺一至三波都係全油壓,一轉四波lock-up嗰吓就chok一chok:
另一部僅存嘅Foden NC,原屬West Yorkshire PTE,今年就冇拎出嚟,只係泊喺個倉度:

亞歷山大P型車身嘅B10M,細窗令佢睇落舊過實際車齡(88年出廠)。三尖八角嘅車頭似足輕鐵,點都估唔到佢係PS型(即係九巴AN嗰隻)嘅前身:

行X90線來往Kirkby工業區同Prescot火車站,途經一段高速公路。引擎係TL11H(平臥版TL11),波箱係close ratio(波段之間嘅齒比差距較細,所以通常都係一波起步)版Hydracyclic,表現唔錯:

時間去到四點,啲車開始走,場內嘅車排得疏咗,先至唔使淨係影得個車頭。呢部係前Stagecoach Manchester嘅Dominator,個Palatine雖然已經facelift咗個車咀,但本質上仍然係舊款嘅圓頂車身:

揭開咗引擎蓋,可以見到部後期版6LXB引擎(油泵冇咗嗰六枝手動泵油嘅桿),同埋個Voith DIWA 854.2波箱 - 冇錯係四速Voith,留意波箱殼係有個延長環。之前一直以為Dominator同Olympian呢隻橫置引擎佈局係裝唔落四速Voith,點知原來就連比康偈長一截嘅吉偈都可以連埋個四速Voith同angle drive塞落Dominator個引擎室度:

同部National MK2一樣係用TL11H引擎同Hydracyclic半自動波,引擎聲同之前搭過嗰部用TL11引擎嘅11米兩軸coach版奧林一樣咁「空心」,而懸掛就偏硬,可能係因為佢頭尾軸都各有四個氣袋。司機喺開車之前提到佢之前未揸過半自動波車,一路上亦喺度呻,話現代啲嘅coach好揸好多云云...
